Sorry- I have been so busy lately- and have not been posting enough! I am ready to start again! I love BB cream in the summer- it is the perfect amount of coverage and includes SPF and moisturizer.
This is my BB cream process: I apply the BB cream with my finger or foundation sponge. Then I add some concealer under my eyes, MAC studio fix powder all over my face and finish with bronzer and blush. I find that the BB cream is a great foundation for the studio fix. Then through out the day I just add more powder as needed. This takes like three minutes- and I am ready to go!
I have four BB creams. Covergirl, Urban Decay, SmashBox and Tarte. I really like them all, but believe it or not my favorite is Covergirl. It is very moisturizing and great for sensitive skin.
I also love the shade of the covergirl BB cream. The fair to light one is great for my skin. The other BB creams weren’t the right color for my skin. Go buy this great product! I love to find a good drugstore deal.
There are several BB creams I want to try. Always looking for a great one- and Sephora has tons of options!
So many BB creams to try! I am excited. My old favorite before BB cream was Aveeno tinted moisturizer which I can’t find anymore. Hate it when a company stops selling a product! Hope this helps you find a great BB cream!
Lately one of my favorite looks is a neutral eye and a bright lip. It is an easy look. I recommend it for anyone in a hurry! You can just lightly line your eyes and add a light shadow and mascara. Then add your lip and you are done!
I have found great bright lipsticks, pigments, stains, etc. from drug stores and expensive ones! Here are some of my bright lip products and my review of them:
I can’t wait to buy more bright lipsticks. There are so many great colors out there! What’s your favorite bright lip product?

If you had to choose one meal for the rest of your life, what would it consist of? It would probably be a salad with gorgonzola and balsamic vinaigrette with crusty french bread to soak up the vinaigrette- yum!!
Blush or Bronzer? In the winter blush is a must for me- it gives me that pop of color. In the summer I like bronzer because it looks more like I’ve had sun.
What is your favorite all-time lipstick? There are so many MAC and bareMinerals colors I like- I can’t pick one! I also love Bite Beauty’s violet lipstick. The color is so bright and pretty!
Have you ever been outside of the country, if yes, where? I lived in Canada when I was a lot younger and also I got the opportunity to study abroad in England when I was in college. I loved the experience and want to go back!
Who is your current role model? My mom is my role model. She was such a sweet, patient mother- it is the way I want to be with my two sons!
If you had the chance to raid a celeb’s closet, who would it be? I love the classy style of Katie Holmes- classic style.
Heels or flats? I always wear flats- heels unfortunately kill my feet!
What is your favorite show right now? My husband and I love Madmen and are in withdrawals now that it is over!
What is your staple piece of jewelry? I love just a pretty stud earring. I have some turquoise blue and silver ones that I love right now.
What is your favorite make-up brand? There are so many but right now I am very into bareMinerals. I love the lipsticks- the colors are all so great and they feel good on your lips- they are moisturizing and good for your lips. And I love all of their blushes and cheek colors.
Finally, If you had to be an animal, what animal would you choose? I would be a dog because they provide so much joy to people!
I am pale. Very pale. All through the year I use blush and bronzer- but during the summer I amp up the bronzer. I don’t get tan- I use SPF 85! So I fake it with bronzer.
One of my favorite ones is a bareMinerals product. Not surprising- I love their products. Warmth is one of my favorites. One of the best things about it is it is layerable. You can wear it lightly to just provide a little sun to your face. Or you can amp it up. It is great for my sensitive skin. Also one $20 container lasts forever. I love, love, love this product.
I also love their cheek colors. I have Giddy Pink, Laughter and Aubergine and they are all great. They provide beautiful color without irritation. I can’t rave enough about them. Also, as I talked about in my post Breaking the bareMinerals rules, you can mix and match them with any foundation!
Another bronzer that I just found that doesn’t bother my skin is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends in Natural Radiance Bronzer. It provides a pretty light color- it is subtle. But if you are looking for a more natural hint of color- this is what you need. It is great no matter how sensitive your skin in. And for around $11- it is a great price.
Some bronzers I would love to get are:
What’s your favorite bronzer? I am always looking for a good one- and I am telling your bareMinerals Warmth is one of them!
Buying makeup can get expensive so when I was shopping with my sister and sweet nieces a couple days ago- I decided to go cheap. I have the belief that certain items you can go cheap on. Mainly lips and eyes. I don’t like too many inexpensive face products because my skin is sensitive and many make my skin break out. I stick to Clinique, MAC, Makeupforever, Lancome, etc. and I am okay with spending the money for these good quality products. I would love to hear of any face product suggestions for sensitive skin that are cheaper?
For eyeshadow I often buy more expensive brands too because I feel like they stay on longer. That is true for eyeliner too. I do like to buy some cheap eye shadows and eye liners to try out colors.
One of my favorite mascaras is Maybelline great lash in blackest black. Stays on and gives a full lash. Love.
Lipsticks I buy cheap sometimes. I find that some of the cheaper brands you have to apply more often- but reapplying lipstick doesn’t bother me too much! So this weekend I spent 25 dollars at Forever 21 and got a whole lot of stuff. Most of it lip items with a few eye liners and brushes. The lip crayon was great. Stays on for quite a while and the color is so vibrant.
I also got a lip pigment I love it. Great color and it stays on for a long time. Only problem is it is drying for the lips- so I put a moisturizing lipstick in a neutral color on top. I was surprised with the Forever 21 makeup– try it out!
The next time you just want to play around with different lip and eye colors go cheap! You can get a lot for not that much money- and some of the products will surprise you!
Ever since high school- which was a long time ago for me! I have heard about how great Make Up Forever makeup was. I remember hearing it was what all of the make up artists used and I dreamed about using all of the products.
Fast forward many years and now I am a wife and mommy- my life is so different- and I am still dreaming of a Make Up Forever! Through the years I have tried a couple items and loved them.
Their concealer is great- covers well. My sister loved it so much she took it from me!
I LOVE using their star powder. The light colors are so good for highlighting. I put it in the inner and out corners of my eyes and below the eye brow. It is great and there are so many pretty colors to chose from.
Up until now somehow I had never tried the Make Up Forever foundation! It seems impossible but I haven’t! I got it a couple days ago and am loving the coverage. I got the Mat Velvet foundation– and it really goes on like velvet! So smooth it blends in. You get full amazing coverage- put it on when you wake up and set with your favorite powder. It will be on and look great at the end of the day! It also doesn’t feel too heavy. I think it would be great for people who don’t like the feel of wearing make up.
Next time I want to treat myself I am getting two more Make Up Forever products:
What Make Up Forever products do you love? I for one am so impressed with the brand quality and can’t wait to get more goodies =)
I have always used lots of purples on my eyes. I thought the purples were great for my hazel/ brown eyes. I still use beautiful purples- but another color I have learned to love on my eyes is pink.
It is an easy look you can pick a pretty pink and use it by itself if you are in a hurry.
The Too Faced Bonjour Summer palette has a beautiful pink- Plumeria. It looks more intense but goes on pretty light and it is beautiful. This is one of favorite pinks to use.
You can add to the look by lining with brown and putting a light brown or copper in the crease.
Some pinks I would love to try are-
You can get all of these shadows at one of my favorite places ever- Sephora. I am going there later today with my sister and nieces! A great mother’s day gift- a shopping trip with people I love! And maybe it will include buying more pink eye shadow!
Pasta- the ultimate comfort food. We make it alot at my house. Normally with Barilla plus pasta. Yummy and has extra protein. I can throw the sauce together in 15 minutes and then it cooks for 30. I also love that my kids enjoy this meal too. Great family meal!

– Add the red wine and cook 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle in the herbs and add the sauce and sugar. Let simmer at least 30 minutes. Salt to taste.
– Add the butter and parmesan cheese to the pasta and stir. Mix in all of the sauce or serve it on top of the pasta. Top with parmesan cheese. Enjoy!!
This dish serves 4-6. I always use traditional Prego in the sauce but any would work! Also you can add other veggies to the sauce. Celery, bell peppers or zucchini would all be great in the sauce. I hope you love it!
The second meal of this week is an easy salad. You can put it together in 15 minutes and it is so yummy! It doesn’t seem like avocado and gorgonzola go together- but they do! They are so delicious together in this salad. It makes my mouth water just thinking about the creamy, tangy gorgonzola with the yummy balsamic vinaigrette. Make this salad- you won’t regret it =)
Chopped salad with avocado and gorgonzola
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 2 teaspoons honey 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 avacado, cut into bite sized pieces Juice of 1/4 of a lemon 1 bag romaine lettuce, chopped into small pieces 1/4 of a red onion, chopped 5 slices bacon, cooked till crisp and chopped-microwavable bacon works fine if you are in a hurry! 3 ounces crumbled gorgonzola cheese 1/3 cup crumbled tortilla chips
– Wisk together the first 6 ingredients for the vinaigrette- set aside.
– Sprinkle the lemon juice over the avocado and add to a large salad bowl.
– Add the remaining ingredients. Pour the vinaigrette over and toss.
Serve for crusty bread to soup up the delicious vinaigrette. Serves 4.
After a long day- curling up with this soup and my family is perfect. I can throw it together quickly- I often do it at nap time and then just let it sit at low on the stove or at 200 degrees in the oven till it is time to eat. If you don’t eat meat use vegetable broth and omit the chicken. This is a great dish to take a friend who is sick or just needs a pick me up! It is so easy to transport and tastes even better the next day. Enjoy!
Creamy chicken soup
5 slices of bacon cut into small chunks- optional 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 1/2 tablespoons butter 2 chicken breasts cut into small bite size chunks 2 1/2 teaspoons salt- divided 2 teaspoons pepper- divided 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika- divided 3 teaspoons Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning- divided 4 small yellow potatoes peeled and cubed 3 carrots chopped 1 medium yellow onion chopped 1 celery stalk chopped 2 cloves garlic minced 3 tablespoons flour 1/4 cup vermouth or other white wine 4 cups or 1 cup chicken stock 3/4 cup half & half
– In a large pot cook the bacon if using it. Cook till crispy- set aside.
– Take bacon grease out of pan. Add 1/2 tablespoon of the olive oil and 1/2 tablespoon of the butter. Add the chicken. Season with 1 teaspoon salt, 3/4 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon paprika and 1 teaspoon Mrs. Dash seasoning. Cook the chicken for 2-3 minutes on medium- high heat till they get a little brown.
– Add the vegetables except the garlic. Put the remaining olive oil and butter in and stir the pot. Add one more teaspoon salt, 3/4 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon paprika and 1 teaspoon Mrs. Dash seasoning. Cook on medium- high heat for three minutes. You aren’t looking for everything to be cooked just to be some brown on the veggies for flavor.
– Turn the heat down to medium and add the garlic. Cook for 2 minutes.
– Add the flour and cook for 2-3 minutes stirring constantly.
– Add the vermouth and let it cook away.
– Add the chicken stock and remaining seasonings. Bring to a boil.
– Once boiling add the bacon back in. Simmer for 30-40 minutes. Add the half & half before serving and season to taste.
Serves 4-6. Serve with crescent rolls.
I recommend using Kitchen Basics stock with this recipe. It is such a yummy stock! Hope you love it =) Tune in tomorrow for chopped salad with gorgonzola and avocado!
